A Walk Around The Block

Image 4. A part of the car roof, it had been raining , I liked the abstract design and puddle of water in the dent. Could be the beginning of greater things Mary. This is as it was but I have had fun playing with a copy in Photoshop - smudge stick, plastic wrap, film grain etc.

Image 3. Colours and Textures

Image 2. Look how the wheel rim has melted !

Image 1. Someone's beloved car - just last week, only 2 paddocks away from my house. Particularly worrying at this time of the year when the paddocks are extremely dry. Kids steal cars to joyride, remove everything which can be sold and then set fire to the car using a petrol bomb. The explosion was so loud, in the middle of the night, but fortunately they fired the car in centre of the road and not the grass verge.

That first picture is a lovely abstract!! Great colors!!! The second one has lovely colors and textures, too. The last one is very sad!

Wow Mary that was quick - I have only just opened each image up to look full size and to be honest was somewhat disappointed 1. is okay but 2,3,4 looked better before I uploaded - I very nearly deleted the lot, but I will leave as its a start. 3. is not good - Thanks :-) I will keep walking .......

Hello - yes I agree 2 3 and 4 would look better if you upped the contrast. I always think it is spasmodic sometimes images come out OK and sometimes wishy washy - wish I knew why. The top one looks like a landscape. I really like it. But I would crop off the bottom bit to just below the diagonal line as it is more out of foocus and I think it draws your eye to it rather than the top bit which is better. I would also darken down that bottom bit probably just a quick swish of the burn tool once on midtones and once on highlights. Actually I just tried it and it looks even better cropped more so the orange river estuary is just flowing into the right hand corner. Image 3 would look great if you up the contrast and also I think I would clone in the black triangle bottom right so you only have the top edge of the metal showing.
What a shame about the car but at least it is a photo op for you. Amazing what it has done to the wheel trim.
Enjoy your smudging! And don't forget to post teh results - good or bad!

Only my opinions of course and you don't have to agree with them. I don't always agree with qualified judges!

I love that first one, looks like a strange alien landscape and the colors are great.

I did sleep a little. I often have insomnia. I slept better last night.
