Animals: Lion, Detroit Zoo

Lion, Detroit Zoo, by Mary Stebbins Taitt. I struggled a little with the lighting, which was very bright and a little washed out and there are shadows from nearby trees. I cloned out a couple overly bright branches. Click on this one for a better view of his eyes.

Lovely pose Mary. You did a great job in the circumstances. My camera has a setting for D-lighting which you are meant to use when there is too much contrast but I have never remembered to use it in those circumstances. Maybe this will make me think of it next time. The only thing would have been better would have been if he had been obliging enough to curl his tail around.

I wonder if mine has such a setting. These cameras have so many options it is hard to know them all, let alone remember them!

I have more from the zoo and some others too. But today is Graham's 15th birthday and I also have homework due tomorrow. So sometime soon I hope to post some more.

I was looking at my icon painting thinking my eyes looked too big and then I looked int he mirror. I was wearing my glasses--unusual for me when looking int he mirror--and sure enough, the glasses made my eyes look bigger.

Hope Graham has a great birthday. I don't suppose he'd be interested in birthday wishes from an old gal like me but I send them anyway.
A good observation re your glasses. I must do myself a new icon. I don't like mine. I still like my boat one on BP though. I wanted to update it when we went to the Scillies but we were there too early in April and the boats were not out.

I like your boat one too--I don't really love mine and am thinking of redoing it but have been too busy. I liked my old yellow flower on a blue background--it was Keith holding it in front of his shirt, simple, but I liked it.

I did enjoy painting this and thought I did a reasonably good job considering my level of expertise in painting which is not that great.

Wow can't believe it tonight I can leave a comment usually I get "This page is unavailable etc etc" I just have to repeat my previously e-mailed message Mary this I really like, you have done well with the difficulties you had, this majestic fellow looks as though he is sitting in a studio posing infront of a photographers background. Whats the odd twig/branch between friends. Nicely done !!!
