A Walk Around the Block

I have lots of pictures from walking around the block, but they are not all good photos. I walk around the block almost every day to buy my groceries at "The Village Market." The first two pictures are from the market. Just outside the market, a plastic flower in the ditch. Shadows on burlap (that is protecting the trees from wind, I guess). And finally, a flag. I rarely photograph our flag, because I am not very proud of our country lately, since G Bush has been in charge.
But I liked this view and now we have Obama, which is more hopeful, I hope. A sort of odd collection. I may post another collection later. This block is not all that exciting.

WOW Mary - I enjoyed these yesterday but didn't get time to comment. What a marvellous walk around the block. I don't think I could every make mine so interesting in Messing but it has certainly made me want to go out and try.
The tulips are a lovely composition and colours. I love the sausages and enjoyed opening it up and seeing what everything was.
I suppose the plastic poinsetta has been discarded by someone and is now out in the cold.
The bush behind the hessian is interesting. Is it a garden centre?
I love the flag.
I actually wrote all that before I read your description. So the burlap is in someone's garden. Yes it is good you can now be proud of your flag again. Can't imagine how Obama is going to put everything back together but I certainly hope he can.
If you think this block is not exciting then the pope is not catholic.

I think I have a fairly colourful picture in my mind of your block Mary, you chose well, Kate's comments say it all. I particularly like the composition of the flag against the blue sky, buildings and reflection in the glass - my eye being drawn up and round.

OH! Thank you ladies! I was thinking Kate's block would be way better. I don't know about Barbara's. I guess I'm bored with mine because I walk around it every day. Or nearly every day. Sometimes two or three time in a single day.

We have a garden center nearby, too. Three of them, actually, well, two garden centers and a greenhouse floral shop. It would depend on how you define a block whether I could count them. We often walk past the floral shop when we are walking around what we call "the big block" which are the mainer streets and contain some smaller blocks or smaller streets. And we walk often also to the garden shops which are on another of our normal walking routes. I went there today in fact and got tomato seeds and little pots to plant them in.

I have two blocks to choose from Nelson/Ch Ch both quite different. I always seem to have Oscar (dog)with me when walking around my block, so I will have to make an effort to walk with my camera instead. Oscar is just two impatient and between his doggy stops and my camera stops the walk would take some hours :-)

How about a picture of Oscar under animals or family and friends? Did we see him yet? My sister-in-law had a dog named Oscar--he was a weimereiner.

Yes Oscar features on FF&T a 2006 photo, time for an update. Will see what I can do.

And there was me thinking this cannot be your real block - you must have to travel to get to it. But it is and it is great to see it and visualise where you live. Yes us other ladies must persevere more. I suppose because I already did pics for the Messing calendar I seem to be stuck on improving my view of Messing - good sides and bad sides as in your discarded poinsetta. OK I've said it. I am going out there today.
