Love the flies. He is so smooth. How did he come to be so smooth? He still looks real though. I like his black beak and legs. I don't think we see any like that in the UK. Nice sharp eye and beak.

This one is really gorgeous, so smooth and perfect, a great pose, like a statue! Looks like a show bird in a bird show, and the color and contrast is great!

Thank you both - I had been taking shots of watery reflections trying to create an abstract look by playing with the shutter speeds. I needed a good reflection with a slight ripple happening - unfortunately it was not working out and I looked up to find I was in the middle of a seagull arguement, forgot to change my settings - I liked the stone-look, devoid of any feather texture :-)

Funny you should mention the black beak and legs I had wondered about them and started to look at other images of seagulls - red or orange beaks and legs seemed more common but I will check it out :-)

Oh dear my first thoughts are that Mary has a very frightening looking self portrait mini pic! Very creative but kind of depressing looking. Hope you are OK Mary?

Re your settings have been wondering what they might have been to get that effect, unless it was the lighting that kind of blew out the highlights but it doesn't look like that. It couldn't have been a long exposure or it would not be so sharp. Would be interested to know Barbara? And also what the gull is.

Just checked out Mary's mini pic and seen it in the bigger version. Looks like a drawing. Very good but still frightening. Looks like you have seen a ghost Mary!

It's a painting, self-portrait in acrylics. I kind of like it. :-D

I didn't know it was scary. I'm fine.

:-D

Could we see a larger photo of your self portrait Mary ? it does look interesting and Leigh has been doing a series of self-portraits for his uni end of year exams - it would be wonderful to have a closer look - if you don't mind that is :-)

Oooops I should check it out - sorry I did not realize you could bring up the mini-pics in a larger version :-)

I have a bunch of self portraits, as any artist must. I'll post it to FF.
